The cell phone module is one module from the GE Math Excellence: Math in a “New Technology” Context project. The module contains a collection of items that can be used with middle-school students to reinforce whole number operations, to compare numbers, to use scale and measure, to use circles and their properties, to apply tessellation, and to express patterns involving number calculations as a precursor to algebraic symbolism. For an explanation of how and why cell phones became the topic of this module, please see the section on the motivation for this module.
This is the most basic piece.
The bigger picture of the setting – with all of the information about the New Technology Context needed for all parts of the module – presented in chunks that are easily referenced as the module unfolds.
Include as Q&A things that students/teachers ask/search out about the situation
