Curriculum
The Steelton-Highspire School District is dedicated to delivering a robust K-12 curriculum firmly rooted in the Pennsylvania Core and Academic Standards. Our curriculum is designed to achieve the objective of cultivating students who are prepared for the future, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for success.
Assessment OverviewStudents within the Steelton-Highspire School District participate in the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) evaluations and Keystone exams.
The PSSA assessments provide valuable insights into the academic performance of students in our elementary and middle schools, benchmarked against Pennsylvania's educational standards in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science and Technology. These individual student scores are utilized to customize educational approaches, while aggregate school scores guide improvements to our curriculum and teaching methods.
Keystone exams gauge students' proficiency in key subjects throughout middle and high school, playing a crucial role in assessing their readiness for high school graduation. Like the PSSA, the Keystone Exams are integral to our district's efforts to meet and exceed state educational benchmarks.
