Youth Family Education
The Salvation Army gives all youth a chance to experience educational enrichment, life skills development, and spiritual and physical wellness. Such experiences allow these at-risk children and adolescents to envision and pursue better futures. Services include afterschool, summer and literacy programs, and organized sports sessions.
Community Health & Nutrition
We help provide access to healthy food as well as opportunities to learn how to use food to care for our bodies. We have a food pantry where we provide fresh food for families who need a hand putting food on the table. We also have a teaching kitchen where we provide free health and cooking classes to the public. Services also include choice shopping food pantry, emergency food supply, drive-thru services, and Family Table nutrition education.
Family & Emergency Services
The Salvation Army Harrisburg provides diverse programs, including basic needs assistance, self-sufficiency mentoring, workforce development, and emergency disaster services. Our programs focus on meeting needs of body, mind and spirit without discrimination.
Self-Sufficiency Case Management
Our VISION centers on helping individuals and families who repeatedly access our basic needs assistance services to become self-sufficient through a holistic approach of meeting their physical, spiritual and emotional needs.
Our HOPE is to change the legacy of dependence to a legacy of greater economic and personal stability - not only for this individual or family, but for each succeeding generation after them.
Our GOAL is to provide intensive, long-term case management to help people overcome the barriers (employment, marital or family issues, budgeting, housing, transportation, decision-making) that keep them from reaching their full potential.
