Grab and Go Meals Updated May 20, 2020

Roller families:

There will be no breakfast and lunch distribution on Monday May 25, 2020 due to the holiday. Grab and Go breakfast and lunch will be served on Tuesday May 26 and Thursday May 28.   The following week,  Grab and Go breakfast and lunch will be served on Monday June 1 and Thursday June 4.  All children under the age of 18 who reside in Steelton or Highspire will still receive breakfast and lunch for five days. All distribution locations will remain the same.

 

  • Monday 10:30-11:30 this distribution includes breakfast and lunch for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
  • Thursday 10:30-11:30 this distribution includes breakfast and lunch for Thursday and Friday

During the state-mandated closure of schools due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Steelton-Highspire School District will be providing free grab and go breakfast and lunch meals to any resident children aged 18 and under.

The District’s meal program will be supported through collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the National School Lunch Program. Any child, 18 or under, who lives within the boundaries of Steelton-Highspire School District will be eligible for free breakfast and lunch.

The CHILD MUST BE PRESENT in order to receive the meal due to National School Lunch Program reimbursement guidelines. Please be mindful that there will be perishable items within your breakfast/lunch and some items may need to be refrigerated.

Who:   Any child, 18 or under, who lives within SHSD’s boundaries.

What:  Free breakfast and lunch – both meals will be given at the same time, although the breakfast being provided is for the following day.

Where: Grab & Go will be available at the following locations:

 

Highspire:      Memorial Park Concession Stand, Lumber Street

Steelton:        Mt. Zion Church, Second Street & Locust Street

                     New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, Second Street & Mohn Street

When:  Starting April 27th, and every Monday and Tuesday during the school district closure

If the United States Department of Education, Governor’s Office and/or the Pennsylvania Department of Education provide new program guidance, it could modify and/or change the operations of the food distribution.

Any such changes would be communicated through our District website.  Please continue to monitor the district website for important information.  Thank you for your patience with District officials as we adjust to ever-changing circumstances during this unprecedented time.
