Snow Days

Roller Community:

We wanted to take this opportunity to provide you information regarding snow days. Because the district is currently using a remote instructional model, we will continue to deliver instruction during times of inclement weather. The rationale behind the decision is that with remote learning, students and staff will be able to continue teaching and learning without disruption. Furthermore, continuing remote learning during times of inclement weather will allow us to preserve our make-up days and maintain the scheduled last day of school.

Not every weather emergency will work for a remote learning day. For example, if a large number of students and teachers will be without power, we may need to consider it a traditional snow day. Weather emergencies can happen quickly and, depending on the timing and severity, decisions will need to be made case-by-case. If traditional snow days are used, they will be made up according to the district calendar. If it becomes necessary to cancel school due to weather, communication will be made to all parents and students via the district mass communications system (email, phone calls, news sources).
