Social Studies Curriculum

Social Studies

In social studies we typically cover 3 or 4 units. Each marking period both social studies and science are taught for four and half weeks. At no point in third grade will your child receive both social studies and science instruction. Most of third grade social studies deals with communities. Some of the topics we learn about with communities include
1. the parts of a community
2. different types of communities in America
3. why people move to new communities
4. communities from around the world
5. rules and laws of communities
6. how rules and laws are made
7. communities from long ago
